“We need to learn to live with this virus. This difficult situation will last for several more years. Epidemics will continue,” Public health expert Dr Giorgi Pkhakadze stated.
He said that if up to 70% of the population needed vaccination during the Wuhan strain, 90% of the population, including children, would have to be vaccinated under the new strains.
“I have very bad news. Unfortunately, as of today, the Delta virus has shown us that we need to vaccinate 90% of the population (mostly I’m talking about children) if we want to stop the virus in the country. Therefore, we need fast, effective, high-quality, safe vaccines,” said DR Giorgi Pkhakadze while talking to “Metronome Mix.”
